Michael has over 20 years of corporate, strategic, and financial communications experience.

He has a successful track record of partnering with senior executives to develop tailored communications and investor relations programs across a variety of industries, with a specialization in financial analytics and research.

During his time at Kekst CNC, Michael has successfully advised clients on complex communications matters including IPOs & Spinoffs, Specialized investor relations, M&A and Bankruptcy & Restructurings. Leveraging his graduate education in mathematics and finance, he has a great deal of experience working with clients in the financial services industry. He also supports companies in other sectors including industrial manufacturing, as well as independent, employee-owned firms, where internal communications are particularly important.

Additionally, Michael serves as Senior Research Counsel, assisting on the production of high-end, value-added research products, including white papers, investor perception studies, investor targeting programs, and various benchmarking studies.

Over the years, he has co-authored a number of white papers on behalf of the firm, including To Guide or Not to Guide?, which was discussed in articles that appeared in both The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s.

Michael holds an M.S. degree in mathematics from Fairfield University, an MBAin corporate finance from St. John’s University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration in Finance degree at Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business.


Recent and Notable Representative Experience

Strategic Counsel and Financial Communications

  • Michael supports S3 Partners, a leading financial technology and analytics firm, with media relations including the successful launch of its BLACK APP on Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters Eikon, and the positioning of S3’s real-time short interest analytics that appear regularly in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The New York Times, MarketWatch, TheStreet.com, Business Insider, Reuters, CNBC.com, etc.
  • He assists Chicago-based and employee-owned Mesirow Financial’s Investment Banking unit on external communications that highlight its advisory work on middle market M&A transactions in the paper, industrials and hardware industries. Works closely with Carver Bancorp’s executive management team (the largest African- and Caribbean-American managed bank in the U.S.) on all facets of communications, such as internal communications, investor relations and public relations, including the CEO’s recent interviews on WPIX-11 with Marv Scott, on WABC-TV (Channel 7) with Sandra Bookman and Nasdaq Facebook Live.
  • He represents NISA Investment Advisors, an employee-owned and St. Louis-based provider of customized investment solutions for tax-exempt and taxable institutional clients, and advised on the founders’ ownership stake transfer to senior management.
  • Michael has provided counsel and developed an investor targeting program for the former parent company of Sally Hansen and Orajel, which focused on enhancing the association in the investment community between the parent and its leading mass-market retail brands.
  • He worked to educate the investment community on the big data available on Premier Inc.’s healthcare platform, including robust investor group meetings at the Harvard Club of New York City.
  • Michael assisted H.B. Fuller to identify qualified buy- and sell-side prospects for its recent investor day.

 

Transactions

  • Advised on the sale of Mesirow Financial’s multi-manager hedge fund business to Lighthouse Investment Partners; AXIS Capital on its proposed $11 billion merger with PartnerRe; Dana Incorporated, a leading worldwide supplier of drivetrain, sealing, and thermal-management technologies, on its proposed $6.1 billion merger with GKN’s Driveline division and its acquisition of a majority stake in Canada’s TM4 Inc.; Rockefeller Financial Services, Inc., the parent company of Rockefeller & Co., Inc., on its strategic partnership with RIT Capital Partners plc, which was chaired by Lord (“Jacob”) Rothschild.
  • Developed and executed the IPO communications plan for LPL Financial, one of the largest independent broker-dealers in the U.S., which is now listed on the NASDAQ Exchange.

 

Corporate Restructurings and Insolvency

  • Advised on the $55-million recapitalization of Carver Bancorp.
