Philip advises clients on EU public affairs, specializing in trade and technology

As a public affairs expert, he has gained experience working on trade defence instruments, free trade agreements, sanctions, foreign direct investment cases and competition investigations.

Philip joined Kekst in 2025, as a Senior Consultant in Brussels. Prior to this, he worked in government affairs at a major German corporate in Brussels. As part of his role, he focused on trade policy issues such as the enforcement of trade defence instruments and sanctions as well as the implementation of the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

Previously, he also gained experience as a Junior Professional at the European Commission, having worked in three different Directorate-Generals on topics ranging from climate change adaptation to China-EU trade relations. In his last Commission role at the Directorate-General for Competition, he worked on the intersection of trade and competition, including foreign direct investment screening and third-country subsidy policies. A German national, Philip has studied in the UK, Germany and the US and holds a PhD in Political Economy.
