Meet Our People
Kekst CNC pioneered strategic communications as it’s known today, and it’s really humbling to feel a part of that and to be learning alongside so many talented individuals. We get to help our clients build confidence with the people who matter most to them. And we get to do that at a time when it couldn’t be more important and needed. The world is a crazy place right now, and getting to help our clients put their best foot forward while navigating it all… you really do feel like you’re making a difference.
I’d advise incoming interns seeking a career at Kekst CNC to be proactive. When I started as an intern, I approached the consultants, asked them about their projects and researched information that could be useful to them. I found that type of responsibility and initiative to be not only recognized but also encouraged. And as a result, I gained insights into a range of projects very fast and got to know some amazing colleagues. By being proactive, an internship at Kekst CNC can be the starting point of a wonderful journey.
I’m passionate about financial communications. As a financial communications advisor, I work closely with leading Swedish and international companies and help them communicate effectively with key stakeholders. Recently, I worked on a Swedish IPO for Nasdaq Stockholm. It was exciting to be part of this large milestone for the client. Both management and the board appreciated our strategic support and guidance, and how we prepared and equipped them for a successful start on the stock exchange.
I was really lucky to have the support of the people I work with to explore my career interests. Their encouragement to believe in myself and support to make it happen were key in my decision to take that step and shift careers. I now enjoy a role that spans across the offices, giving me the opportunity to work with people from different markets, but most importantly to make a positive impact on my colleagues’ professional development.
My favorite aspect of the job is having an impact on how a brand communicates and positions itself. There’s a lot of satisfaction in seeing an article written for a CEO appear in a publication, or watching a CEO in an interview recite the talking points that you wrote. There’s a feeling of: ‘Wow that’s us – we played a role in how this brand is communicating on this topic.’ Our advice has guided or steered them in the right direction, and we can see the value that this creates.
I’ve always been passionate about politics. Kekst CNC has given me the flexibility to split my time between London and Edinburgh, and secondly to explore my political career. I have been fully supported in pursuing my political ambitions and was able to take leave to stand in the 2019 General Election. It speaks to the ethos of the company, which sees creative thinking as key to effective corporate, crisis and financial communications and encourages its consultants to think differently and pursue their own initiatives.
Often the assumption that financial communications are more complicated is not true. The messaging just revolves around the numbers, which I prefer: There’s less room for wild interpretation or misrepresentation of the facts. Instead, it’s about taking the numbers and helping companies tell their story in a way that anyone – especially the people who are impacted by any form of financial transaction and event – can digest.
"One of the best things that I’ve learned during my time at Kekst CNC is that people can be smart and humble at the same time. I’ve met a lot of different kinds of people in my prior experiences, and I feel like one of the keys to success in your given field is to stay humble, regardless of how much knowledge you have. We have partners here that talk about how excited they are to work with their colleagues in other offices because it provides an opportunity to learn something new. It’s a good example to follow for someone in their position to say something like that".
