He founded and led a successful strategic communications consultancy before selling it to Publicis Groupe and merging it with CNC in January 2015.
Richard is an experienced advisor, implementing communications campaigns and crisis management plans for a range of well-known international organizations.
He advises clients on their relationships with key stakeholders including employees, customers, regulators and investors. Richard has advised on numerous capital markets transactions including IPOs, mergers, acquisitions and restructurings. Richard was named as one of the ten most powerful corporate communicators in the U.K. by PR Week.
Richard graduated with a BA (Hons) from Warwick University and an MA in Industrial Relations at Warwick Business School.
Q&A with Richard
How has the firm changed since you first joined?
I'm officially Europe's oldest employee since I founded my firm a year before CNC was created. There were three of us in the back room of an office that no-one else wanted to be in. To see the firm now with more than 250 people across 13 offices is pretty extraordinary!
What advice do you have for aspiring Communications professionals?
Work hard to build your network - it will serve you well for the rest of your career.
What is the most exciting city you’ve ever been to?
I lived in Mumbai for five years. It is hard to envisage a more vibrant city anywhere in the world.
Take the most interesting project you have worked on recently: Why was it interesting?
I like big transformation projects where you can see the impact you are having on the business. A successful transformation, to take advantage of a new market opportunity for example, demands real understanding from each and every stakeholder group. Everyone, from employees to investors, have to buy into the project for it to work. Seeing momentum build behind a project of that sort and seeing it result in increased sales or greater corporate value is really rewarding. This is one of the areas where Kekst CNC is particularly strong.
