As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, both the media and general public looked to the most powerful businesses and their leaders, as a source of information and strength in the time of crisis.

They faced unprecedented levels of public and media scrutiny; firstly from the outside, challenging their participation and help of the relief efforts to tackle the growing pandemic, and also on the inside, being publicly held to account for how they were communicating the safeguarding of their employees and their livelihoods.

We have analysed the non-regulated communications published by the companies listed on the London Stock Exchange with the highest market capitalisation during the peak of the crisis, drawing our own insights to inform the lessons learned from their successes and failures. The company communications of today will serve as a roadmap for future businesses navigating unthinkable crisis.
